(CHAllenging Networked CommunitiEs)
The main objective of this project is to harmonize and utilize the best of current social networking technologies in order to stimulate intercultural dialogue with concrete artistic and cultural results visible and circulated around Europe on a trajectory from virtual to physical domain. We will give voice to emerging talented people across different cultures to meet and discuss, share ideas, skills and knowledge based on open-curatorial strategies and innovative models of interconnecting diverse creative communities. In order to catalyze creativity we will integrate a set of tools making it possible to effectively announce, manage, circulate and bring visibility to cultural operators, groups of artists as well as creative individuals, across all sectors and regions in Europe. We envision the construction of an open-source CHANCE platform that will support user-friendly mass collaboration (also called peer production) and promotion of artistic and intercultural values while the major creative work within the project will be dedicated to artistic experiments with and critical contextualization of the platform tools and concepts. Artistic creation and cultural production has become dependent on the use of on-line social networks where basically anyone, including minorities and socially otherwise disadvantaged people, can remotely and for free collaborate, co-produce, discuss and learn as well as teach and guide one another. Given these new communication possibilities, a growing number of creative individuals and intercultural operators can innovate to produce excellent creative content and offer high-quality cultural services often with enormous social and environmental relevance and impact.

Cultures / Arts / Technologies / Creations / Handicap
The main objective of this project is to create spaces for active and voluntary collaboration, linking creative people, artists and cultural agents as well as scientific researchers and computer scientists in Europe. CATCH aims to expand and multiply exchanges in the dimension of scientific knowledge, technological advances and artistic production by elaborating common experimental projects with an ambition to link and integrate the world of artistic expression and the world of impairment and disabilities.
We will achieve this by drawing upon specific expressive potentialities and by favouring activities involving communication and exchanges in order to permit disadvantaged people to be better ‘human beings in the world’. We believe that human impairment, once peripheral, constitutes an emancipatory force that cannot be ignored by any form of socio-cultural development.
Therefore, our overall objective is to develop and reinforce the conceptual and methodological ties that form tight bonds between scientific research projects and advanced artistic practises by means of trans-disciplinarity and trans-sensoriality. In particular, we will focus on integration of tactility, vision, hearing, spatial cognition, speech, communication and interactive gestural forms of expression within interdisciplinary intercultural practices resulting in innovative artworks with high social relevance.
In order to stimulate and catalyze creativity we will establish specific experimentation protocols that will accommodate workshops, meetings, seminars, performances, and exhibitions, We will produce events oriented toward a broad public with a vision to initiate long-term collaborative creation projects in the field of handicap, These projects will link advanced research laboratories with creative young people in order to showcase the interrelationships which exist between the universe of the disabled, contemporary experimental art and foundational research.

Objets Communicants

Immersive Media Dance Integrating in Telematic Environment
Dance has always existed within the context of society. As society changes, it reframes dance. Today, dance is framed by the technology that surrounds us.
IMMEDIATE project aims to encourage creativity and innovation in the field of dance performances intersecting digital arts. Through bringing together partners with different cultural backgrounds the project will explore novel possibilities of performances combining real and virtual dancers in mixed-reality environments while creating long-term learning opportunities for comparing and integrating different cultural implications of dance across Europe.
IMMEDIATE will support mobility of young choreographers, dancers as well as new media artists and technology experts through a series of workshops and residencies with a main objective to encourage creation, presentation, and promotion of dance performances of the future.
Distributed mixed-reality performances will reframe contemporary dance forms in a perspective of emerging technologies such as digital real-time performance tools, three-dimensional motion-capture facilities and systems supporting on-line « intelligent stages » allowing for collaborative tele-immersive experiments that combine technical excellence in dancers’ own bodies with creative excellence in virtual computer technologies.
